5. Power Supply for SSDs

When utilizing hard drives, especially M.2 SSDs, it is crucial to connect an external USB-C power supply to the dock's dedicated charging port (5V/2A) to ensure adequate power delivery and prevent potential disconnects or data transfer issues. A 20W, 5V/3A USB charger is recommended (not included).

8. Datrys Problemau

  • Ymyrraeth Wi-Fi: The aluminum construction of the dock, when placed directly beneath the Mac mini, may interfere with the Mac mini's Wi-Fi signal, as the Wi-Fi antenna is located on the bottom of the Mac mini. If you experience Wi-Fi connectivity issues or reduced speeds, consider the following:
    • Use a wired Ethernet connection for your Mac mini if possible.
    • Alternatively, try placing the Mac mini upside down on the dock, or place the Mac mini next to the dock instead of on top of it, to improve Wi-Fi signal reception.
  • SSD Disconnections or Slow Performance:
    • Ensure the external USB-C power supply (5V/2A) is connected to the dock when using an M.2 SSD, especially for high-capacity or high-performance drives. Inadequate power can lead to instability.
    • Verify that the installed SSD is an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. SATA M.2 SSDs are not compatible and will not function.
    • Check that the SSD is correctly seated and secured within the enclosure.
  • Peripherals Not Detected:
    • Ensure the dock is properly connected to your Mac mini via the USB-C to USB-C cable.
    • Try connecting the peripheral directly to your Mac mini to rule out an issue with the peripheral itself.
    • Restart your Mac mini.
