The CM4-DUAL-ETH-MINI baseboard offers a comprehensive set of features to enhance the functionality of your Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4:

  • CM4 Socket: Compatible with all variants of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4.
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet Ports: Two RJ45 connectors supporting 10/100/1000M networking, powered by an RTL8111H Gigabit NIC chip. ETH0 serves as the CM4 original network port, and ETH1 as a PCIe extended network port.
  • Porthladd Math-A USB 2.0: A single USB 2.0 port for connecting peripheral devices.
  • 40PIN GPIO Header: Standard Raspberry Pi 40-pin interface for connecting various HATs and expansion modules.
  • Slot Cerdyn Micro SD: For Compute Module 4 Lite (without eMMC) variants, allowing for OS storage.
  • Fan Header: A 4-wire SH1.0 port for connecting a cooling fan, supporting speed adjustment and measurement (5V fans only).
  • Porthladd Math-C: Functions as a 5V/2.5A power supply input and a USB interface for eMMC programming.
  • Botwm Ailosod: For convenient system reset.
  • BOOT Switch: Allows switching between booting from the USB-C interface (ON position) or from eMMC/Micro SD card (OFF position).
  • SYSTEM Switch: Includes options for EEPROM write protection (EEPROM_WP), disabling Wi-Fi (WIFI_DIS), and disabling Bluetooth (BT_DIS) for CM4 versions with wireless capabilities.

3. Gosod a Gosod

Follow these steps to properly set up and install your Waveshare CM4-DUAL-ETH-MINI baseboard with a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4.

3.1 Connecting the Compute Module 4

  1. Ensure the CM4-DUAL-ETH-MINI baseboard is powered off and disconnected from any power source.
  2. Carefully align your Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 with the CM4 Socket on the baseboard. Ensure the connectors are correctly oriented.
  3. Gently press the CM4 into the socket until it is securely seated. Do not force the module.

3.2 Cyflenwad Pŵer

The CM4-DUAL-ETH-MINI requires a 5V DC power supply via its Type-C interface. For normal operation of the CM4, a 5V/2A power supply is recommended. Insufficient power may lead to issues such as automatic shutdowns or frequency reduction.

When using the Type-C interface to program the CM4's eMMC, ensure no other devices are connected to the baseboard to guarantee stable power delivery during the programming process.

3.3 USB 2.0 Port Activation

By default, the USB 2.0 port is disabled. To enable it, you need to modify the config.txt file on your Raspberry Pi OS. Add the following line to config.txt:

dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=host

3.4 Cysylltiad Fan

If you plan to use a cooling fan, connect it to the 4-wire SH1.0 fan header. Pwysig: Only 5V fans are supported. Confirm your fan's voltage before connecting to prevent damage.

4. Cyfarwyddiadau Gweithredu

Once the Compute Module 4 is securely installed and the baseboard is powered, the system will boot according to the BOOT switch setting (eMMC/Micro SD or USB-C for programming). The dual Gigabit Ethernet ports allow for flexible network configurations, such as setting up a router, firewall, or network bridge.

For specific software configurations, refer to the official Raspberry Pi documentation and relevant open-source projects (e.g., OpenWRT for router applications).

5. Cynnal a Chadw a Diogelwch

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your CM4-DUAL-ETH-MINI baseboard, observe the following guidelines:

  • Power Off Before Connecting/Disconnecting: Always power off the device before plugging or unplugging any components, especially the Compute Module 4 or any non-USB peripherals.
  • Amodau Amgylcheddol: Operate the board in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Ymdrin â Gofal: Avoid static discharge by handling the board by its edges. Do not apply excessive force to connectors or components.
  • Glanhau: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the board. Avoid liquids or abrasive cleaners.

6. Datrys Problemau

Mae'r adran hon yn mynd i'r afael â phroblemau cyffredin y gallech ddod ar eu traws:

  • System Shuts Down or Reduces Frequency:

Achos: Insufficient power supply to the Compute Module 4.

Ateb: Ensure you are using a stable 5V/2A power supply connected to the Type-C port. Avoid connecting other high-power devices to the baseboard when the CM4 is in operation.

  • USB 2.0 Port Not Functioning:

Achos: The USB 2.0 port is disabled by default.

Ateb: Refer to Section 3.3 "USB 2.0 Port Activation" and add the necessary line to your config.txt file.

  • Ffan Ddim yn Troelli:

Achos: Incorrect fan voltage or improper connection.

Ateb: Verify that your fan is a 5V model. Check the connection to the 4-wire SH1.0 fan header for proper alignment and secure fit.

  • Unable to Program CM4 eMMC via Type-C:

Achos: Other devices drawing power, or BOOT switch in incorrect position.

Ateb: Disconnect all other peripherals from the baseboard. Ensure the BOOT switch is set to the "ON" position (boot from USB-C interface) before attempting to program.
