  1. For iOS Devices (iPhone/iPad): Use the provided Lightning cable. Connect the micro-USB end to the iRig Mic HD 2 and the Lightning end to your iOS device.
  2. For Mac/PC: Use the provided USB cable. Connect the micro-USB end to the iRig Mic HD 2 and the standard USB-A end to your computer's USB port.

5.3 Gosod Meddalwedd (Dewisol)

For optimal performance and additional features, consider installing IK Multimedia's dedicated audio recording applications (e.g., iRig Recorder, VocaLive) available for iOS, Mac, and PC. Refer to the IK Multimedia website for download and installation instructions.

6.1 Pweru Ymlaen

The iRig Mic HD 2 is bus-powered, meaning it draws power directly from the connected device (iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC). Simply connect the microphone, and it will power on automatically.

6.2 Adjusting Input Gain

  • Locate the gain control knob on the microphone body.
  • Rotate the knob to adjust the input sensitivity.
  • Observe the multi-color LED indicator:
    • Glas: Signal present, good level.
    • Gwyrdd: Optimal signal level.
    • Coch: Signal too hot (clipping). Reduce gain immediately to avoid distortion.
  • Aim for a strong signal that primarily stays in the green, with occasional peaks into blue, and never red.

6.3 Monitro Sain

  • Connect your headphones to the 3.5mm headphone output jack at the base of the microphone.
  • Use the dedicated headphone volume control knob to adjust your monitoring level.
  • This allows for real-time, direct monitoring of your audio without latency.

6.4 Recording Best Practices

  • Lleoliad meicroffon: Position the microphone appropriately for the sound source. For vocals, typically 6-12 inches from the mouth. For instruments, experiment with distance and angle to capture the desired tone.
  • Patrwm Cardioid: The iRig Mic HD 2 has a cardioid pickup pattern, meaning it primarily picks up sound from the front and rejects sound from the sides and rear. Point the front of the microphone (where the grille is) directly at the sound source.
  • Hidlydd pop: While the microphone has an internal pop filter, using an external pop filter is recommended for vocal recordings to reduce plosive sounds (P, B).
  • Amgylchedd: Record in a quiet environment to minimize background noise.
