The GE Z-Wave On/Off Relay Switch offers a convenient solution for smart home automation, compatible with various lighting types including CFL, LED, Xenon, Halogen, Fluorescent, and Incandescent. It supports both 2-way and 3-way wiring configurations when used with an auxiliary switch.

4. Gosod a Gosod

Follow these steps carefully to install your GE Z-Wave On/Off Relay Switch. If you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring, please consult a qualified electrician.

The switch requires Line (Hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground connections. For 3-way installations, an auxiliary switch (e.g., GE 45610) and a traveler wire are also required.

4.2 Camau Gosod

  1. Diffodd Pŵer: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the switch box. Turn it OFF completely. Verify power is off using a voltage profwr.
  2. Dileu Switsh Presennol: Carefully remove the wallplate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch, noting which wire was connected to which terminal. It is recommended to label the wires (Line, Load, Neutral, Ground, Traveler if applicable).
  3. Adnabod Gwifrau:
    • Line (Hot): Connects to the electrical panel, providing power.
    • Llwyth: Connects to the light fixture or fan.
    • Niwtral: Typically white, required for the switch to operate.
    • Tir: Bare copper or green wire.
    • Traveler (for 3-way): Connects to the auxiliary switch.
  4. Wire the Z-Wave Switch: Connect the wires to the GE Z-Wave switch terminals as follows:
    • Gwifren ddaear: Connect to the green GROUND terminal.
    • Gwifren niwtral: Connect to the white NEUTRAL terminal.
    • Line (Hot) Wire: Connect to the black LINE terminal.
    • Gwifren Llwytho: Connect to the black LOAD terminal.
    • Traveler Wire (if 3-way): Connect to the red TRAVELER terminal. Cap off the traveler wire if not used.
  5. Gosod y switsh: Carefully fold the wires and push the switch into the wall box. Secure the switch with the provided screws.
  6. Install Wallplate: Attach the new wallplate (not included) over the switch.

5. Cyfarwyddiadau Gweithredu

5.1 Rheolaeth â Llaw

The GE Z-Wave On/Off Relay Switch can be operated manually:

  • Press the top of the rocker switch to turn the connected device ON.
  • Press the bottom of the rocker switch to turn the connected device OFF.
  • An LED indicator on the switch illuminates to show its location in a dark room.

To add the switch to your Z-Wave network:

  1. Place your Z-Wave controller into inclusion (pairing) mode. Refer to your controller's instruction manual for specific steps.
  2. Once the controller is in inclusion mode, quickly tap the top or bottom of the rocker switch once. The LED indicator on the switch may flash to confirm inclusion.
  3. The controller will confirm successful inclusion. You can now control the switch remotely through your Z-Wave network.

Nodyn: Pairing typically requires a light, quick tap, not a prolonged press.

5.3 Z-Wave Network Exclusion (Unpairing)

To remove the switch from your Z-Wave network:

  1. Place your Z-Wave controller into exclusion (unpairing) mode. Refer to your controller's instruction manual for specific steps.
  2. Once the controller is in exclusion mode, quickly tap the top or bottom of the rocker switch once. The LED indicator on the switch may flash to confirm exclusion.
  3. The controller will confirm successful exclusion. The switch is now removed from your Z-Wave network.
