Insert the supplied NP-FV30 rechargeable battery pack into the battery compartment. Connect the AC adaptor to the camcorder and a power outlet to charge the battery. The built-in USB cable also allows for charging when connected to a computer.

The DCR-SX45 supports Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, SD, and SDHC media. Insert a compatible memory card into the dual media card slot until it clicks into place.

Operating the Camcorder

Open the 3.0" touch-screen Clear Photo LCD Plus display to power on the camcorder. Close the LCD display to power off the device and automatically activate the auto lens cover.

2. Recordio Fideos

With the camcorder powered on, press the RECORD button to begin recording. Press it again to stop. The 70x Extended Zoom allows for capturing distant subjects while maintaining image quality. SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode helps reduce blur during recording.

3. Taking Still Photos

Switch to photo mode (if available) or use the dedicated photo button to capture still images. Face Detection technology optimizes settings for clear and natural-looking portraits.

4. Intelligent Auto Mode

The Intelligent Auto mode analyzes your shooting environment and automatically selects optimal settings from 36 possible scene combinations, including Landscape, Backlight, Twilight, Spotlight, Macro, Portrait, and Tripod.

5. Built-in LED Video Light

Activate the built-in LED video light for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

6. Parthedviewing Footage

Use the Film Roll Index to preview the beginning of scenes or the Face Index to quickly locate footage based on detected faces. Navigate through your recordings using the touch-screen LCD.

3. Sony Picture Motion Browser (PMB) Software

The included CD-ROM contains Sony Picture Motion Browser software, offering an intuitive way to transfer, sort, and view your video and still images on a compatible PC (Microsoft Windows XP SP3/ Windows Vista SP2/Windows 7).
